Shiva Cement Secures Approval to Launch Dolomite Mining in Odisha

Shiva Cement Ltd., a subsidiary of JSW Cement, has secured revised environmental clearance along with consent to operate for the Khatkurbahal (North) limestone and dolomite mines in Sundargarh district, Odisha. This approval clears the path for the company to begin commercial dolomite mining.

The updated clearance broadens the mining project's scope by permitting dolomite extraction with an annual production capacity of 2.4 million tonnes.

The company stated that the Khatkurbahal (North) Block holds total dolomite reserves of 89.09 million tonnes, including approximately 48.29 million tonnes of mineable resources.

With the necessary regulatory approvals now in place, Shiva Cement can commence commercial extraction and sale of dolomite, creating a new revenue stream from its mining operations.

The move is expected to enhance the company's raw material security while supporting the expansion and efficiency of its integrated cement manufacturing business.
