1.Elaborate this statement of yours “We are Green by Default” and what it means to you? 

At Green Evolution, we only take up the design and construction of eco-friendly buildings. If a client is not interested in making their building environmentally sustainable, we do not take up that work. Therefore, every step of the design and construction process has earth friendliness at its core. For example, factors such as energy efficiency, water conservation, use of low carbon materials, sensitive site development and the well-being of occupants are incorporated into the design at each step. Furthermore, we strive to incorporate the local climatic as well as cultural factors into our designs.

At Green Evolution, the whole team is passionate about environmental sustainability. Therefore, we strongly encourage our team members to get accredited as green professionals. As a result, 60% of Team Green Evolution consists of LEED APs, IGBC APs or GRIHA APs. The founders are both IGBC Fellows, a prestigious recognition by the Indian Green Building Council for their untiring efforts to promote sustainable habitats in India. 

2.Briefly describe about your SEARCH methodology and how it evolves designs that create synergy between the built and natural environment which not only enhances the quality of life but also ensures minimal impact to the earth? 

SEARCH stands for Sustainable Excellence in Architecture. Simply put, we want to be known for Excellence in Sustainable Architecture, a philosophy that pervades our work and processes. This requires us to constantly evaluate our knowledge / processes and seek improvements – technological as well as process improvements. For example, our work with natural materials has enabled us to greatly increase the extent of natural materials used in a building. This helps reduce unnecessary industrial processing (and therefore carbon emissions) and also helps reduce exposure to materials which are potentially harmful to the environment as well as human health. 

Our pursuit of excellence in sustainable architecture has resulted in several national and international awards. We strive to make every single work to be worthy of national and international recognition. 

3.How Green Evolution balances “Innovation with Sustainability”? 

At Green Evolution, our aim is to constantly push our knowledge and expertise in the field of earth sensitive habitats. Towards this goal, we constantly strive to incorporate cutting-edge technologies into our projects and try to incorporate at least one new innovative technology or feature in each project. For example, we have pioneered use of BIPV (building integrated photovoltaics) in our projects as building elements – that is, solar panels that are designed to also function as roofs or skylights. This helps in avoiding RCC where possible while generating clean energy. We have also pioneered the use of natural wastewater treatment systems which enable the reuse of waste water within buildings and greatly help in water conservation. 

We use cutting-edge software analytic tools as part of our design process. These tools enable us to assess and optimize a building’s energy and indoor environment performance even before it is built. 

4.What Green Evolution does differently which help your clients get the first mover advantage amongst their peers? 

For our commercial and institutional clients, we assess their business goals and use our work to help our clients enhance their market standing. For instance, we have helped several clients to be the first in the region to achieve a specific green building certification, which enables them to stand out in their market and get first mover advantage. For instance, we have helped one of our data analytics clients to showcase their green certified office to potential clients in the EU and US and stand out as an early adopter of green workspaces.

Similarly, we help our clients reduce their long term operating costs and increase productivity by way of energy efficiency, water conservation and enhanced employee well-being.

5.What will be the vision and roadmap of Green Evolution in the year 2026? 

At Green Evolution, we wish to be known as experts in low carbon habitats and help India achieve its net zero targets ahead of time. Towards this end, we are focusing our efforts in 2026 on acquiring knowledge and talent that will greatly increase our capabilities in designing and constructing low carbon habitats.
